So, I am off to Denver for 6 days for work. Travel used to get me excited, not so much anymore. I miss my kids and my wife. Especially in 6 day chunks. It gets tough.
And I've wondered, how much of myself should I write about? I mean in the sense I can be identified by. These days, employers do internet searches on prospective employees. My name is common enough (and famous enough, I guess) no one could find this pathetic journal of a blog, but still. You got to be careful. I guess. Sad state of affairs.
I've always thought if I could live in any time in the history, it would be here in America about 100 years before the Europeans settled here as an Indian. I am not an environmentalist, but an Indian is the ultimate environmentalist. I see it more as living in harmony with the land and ecosystem. That's the key. I'd do it today if I could. And I guess I could, but it would be a dramatic lifestyle change, and we are a materialistic society. Every time I got to the grocery store I think I should buy those reusable bags, but every time I think to myself "Next time." Sad.
Ramblings. But this my blog. Fuck off if you don't like it. If you've read this far, you got no life, you are a friend of mine, or you think what I say may be partially interesting. Whatever.

Prescription meds mess me up. I went to the MD this past Wed for a sinus infection. I think the decongestant he prescribed, Clarinex (?) is hosing me up. Puts me on edge. I got no time for nothing, very short fuse.
I had a short day at work, my oldest started Kindergarten, and today, for some reason, she just didn't want to go to school. Clingy, crying all of it. I committed to picking her up from school as a compromise to get her to go (she normally rides the bus and loves it), so I had a short day. Was on edge the whole time I was at work.
Bob Balch, from Fu Manchu, videoed one of my requests, Hogwash from the Action is Go up at wwww.playthisriff.com. It's a pretty easy one, not a lot of single note riffs, but it jams. The Action is Go is a good one to pick up, if you haven't got it. So I am stoked about that. But he's got so much stuff up, I don't know when I'd have time to learn it. He's got TONS of stuff up there. It's well worth the $10 a month, if you want to learn rock guitar.
Heading into the weekend. Grass cutting, family shopping. Hanging out.

When I ride into work in the mornings, I spend a lot of time thinking. Most of what I think revolves around the music I am listening to and what is going on in my life. And I always think "I should record this somehow, blog it or whatever." I like sharing my thoughts and opinions (just ask my wife). Some of it is what I am feeling in the moment (mostly music stuff), some of it is after a lot of introspection (I have a degree in Philosophy, but I only learned how little I know about everything and nothing). Some of it is work related, which has been taking up more and more of my time.
So I've made several attempts at starting a blog, and they were fruitless, mostly because I was always looking for just the right thing to say, to have my blog, if anyone read it, be recognized as clever or intellectal or thought provoking. Thats too poseurish, and I realized if I waited, I wouldn't blog a damn thing.
My URL is the title of a Fu Manchu song, "Swami's Last Command." I love Fu Manchu. And this song, I don't know what it's about, but I went surfing last June, and that experience has just changed me, consumed me. Fu is a So Cal band, and Swami's is a famous point break somewhere in So Cal (Encinitas, CA). And a Swami is a hindu word for "He who knows and is master of himself" (from Wikipedia). It's kind of spiritual. I like it.
So it's just my thoughts. I've got a lot of them.
